Man United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan limps off against St Etienne: Doubt for EFL Cup final

MANCHESTER UNITED star Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a doubt for Sunday’s EFL Cup final after limping off against St Etienne.

Mkhitaryan had opened the scoring for Manchester United in this evening’s Europa League tie. 

The Armenian poked home Juan Mata’s cross to put Jose Mourinho’s side 4-0 up on aggregate against the French side. 

But soon after Mkhitaryan was forced to leave the field holding his hamstring.

He was replaced by Marcus Rashford with 25 minutes gone. 

Mkhitaryan could now be a doubt for Sunday’s EFL Cup final with Southampton. 

Mourinho will now face questions as to whether he needed to play the Armenia international.

United were already 3-0 up after the first-leg and the tie was all but over. 

However, Mourinho selected a strong XI, insisting he wanted to keep up United’s momentum. 

Mkhitaryan has impressed for the Red Devils this season, and has six goals in 22 appearances.
