Zlatan Ibrahimovic: These two people convinced me to join Man Utd, my mind was elsewhere

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC has revealed his children played a big part in him joining Manchester United.

Ibrahimovic signed for Manchester United on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

And he was ready to move onto the riches of China or play in America, but a phone call from Jose Mourinho, and some nagging from his kids, convinced him to move to England.

"Even my two kids wanted to see me play at United,” he said.
“I had my mind somewhere else. Before, everything was coming on top of the table, then Jose called.

"I have a special relationship with him. When he called it was basically, 'tell me what number I should wear'.

"My mind was not here. Then my kids started to bump my head and Jose called, then I am here."

And the 35-year-old has been a revelation. His double against Southampton clinched the EFL Cup yesterday - the second coming late on to seal victory.

He has now scored 26 goals in United colours, including one in the Community Shield, and has the option of a second season to continue at the club.

Mourinho insists he will stay but yesterday he spoke cryptically about his future and left the door open for a move away.
