Antonio Conte holds talks over signing Arsenal star

ANTONIO CONTE has held talks with Chelsea’s hierachy about signing Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.

Alexis Sanchez could leave Arsenal this summer, when he enters the final year of his £130,000-a-week contract.

Sanchez is demanding a huge pay-rise to around £250,000 a week but has cut an increasingly frustrated figure at Arsenal in recent weeks.

And according to The Guardian, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has made Sanchez his No 1 summer transfer target.

It is claimed Conte has discussed the possibility of signing Sanchez with Chelsea’s hierachy.

Conte is currently in talks with Chelsea over a new contract, having signed a three-year deal worth £6.5million a year when he took over last summer.

The Italian boss is keen to make headway on transfers for next season, with his side currently 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The Guardian say Conte has submitted a list of transfer targets to Chelsea directors Marina Granovskaia and Michael Emenalo, who report directly to owner Roman Abramovich.
And Sanchez is apparently at the top of Conte’s list, which also includes defenders David Alaba, Alex Sandro, Virgil van Dijk, midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and strikers Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Morata.

Convincing Arsenal to sell Sanchez appears hugely unlikely, with the Gunners determined not to lose him to a top-four rival.

The Chile international has also attracted interest from Premier League giants Manchester City and Manchester United.

Outside of England, European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are keen as well as Chinese Super League clubs.
However, Sanchez’s former club Barcelona and Real Madrid are not in for him.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger discussed the 28-year-old’s future last week, admitting contract talks for him and Mesut Ozil were on hold until the summer.

"At the moment we have not got an agreement," Wenger said.

“We have decided to focus on the end of the season and talk about it during the summer.
"It is the same situation with Ozil, because once you don't find an agreement and the negotiation lasts, it is not good.

"It is better you get it out and sit down in the summer."

Wenger’s own future is under huge doubt, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

The Frenchman has not yet revealed his decision but added: "No matter how long I stay I will be committed and completely focused as long as I stay at the club."
