The 29-year-old's contract is due to expire in 2018 and doubt has been cast over his future.
Manchester City are keen to swoop in to sign Lionel Messi should he opt to leave Barcelona.
But Spanish outlet Marca claim Barcelona are confident of reaching an agreement on a contract extension.

It is claimed Messi's contract was due to be renewed by the end of March, but talks have now been pushed back to May.

The report adds Barca want to focus on the final quarter of the season before sitting down with the Argentina international to discuss his contract.

Barca are prepared to offer him a contract worth £30million-a-season.
