Three years after being shown the exit door by Jose Mourinho the Premier League's leading goalscorer believes he has unfinished business at Stamford Bridge.

And despite also being linked with Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, Chelsea are believed to be preparing a £70million cash and player bid for Lukaku.

They plan to test Everton's resolve with a deal that could see misfit striker Michy Batshuayi moving to Goodison, plus around £40million.
Antonio Conte sees Lukaku ahead of Griezmann as the perfect replacement if Diego Costa opts to head off to China.

He is also prepared to let Batshuayi leave in part exchange after the striker's struggle to make an impact at Chelsea following his £33million move from Marseille last year.
Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit of Lukaku, who Mourinho sold to Everton for £28million in 2014, after he decided not to sign a new contract with the Toffees.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez, sacked by Everton last year, hailed his former striker as potentially "the best in the world" ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Greece.

And the 23-year-old spelled out his hopes, saying: "It's done. I want to win titles and trophies. That's not being arrogant, just ambitious. There is nothing wrong with ambition, you need to embrace it."
Meanwhile, even if Everton knock back Chelsea's offer for Lukaku Batshuayi could still be heading out of Stamford Bridge.

Conte said: "Michy must continue to work and anything can happen. If he shows me he deserves to play, I'm ready to put him him in the starting XI. If he doesn't then we'll look at the situation at the end of the season."

West Ham are understood to be waiting in the wings.
