This was the reason behind my goal celebration at Boro

JESSE LINGARD has revealed the reason behind his bizarre goal celebration in the 3-1 win over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

The 24-year-old Manchester United forward made it 2-0 on 62 minutes after the Middlesbrough defence backed off him to allow him to smash his effort into the top right corner and past a helpless Victor Valdes.

Lingard celebrated his goal in bizarre fashion by performing a jig whilst seeming to blow an imaginary flute.
And Lingard has revealed he celebrated like this after promising a friend he would perform this act - which he explained was in reference to a new track by songwriter Drake called 'Portland' - if he scored.

"It’s a new album that's just dropped by Drake," he said.
"One of the songs. I promised a mate I’d do that celebration if I scored, so I did it!"

Marouane Fellaini and Antonio Valencia scored the other two goals to help ensure United leapfrogged Arsenal and Everton into fifth place - finding themselves just three points off of the top four.
