A WEST HAM fan made it onto the pitch after Eden Hazard opened the scoring at the London Stadium.
By BRUCE ARCHER
The supporter appeared angry and aggressive as he beat the stewards and came close to making contact with the Chelsea players.
Hazard put Chelsea a goal up after 25 minutes from a lightning break away.
Mark Noble gave the ball away after a West Ham free kick and N’Golo Kante drove forward before sliding the ball to Hazard.
Hazard played a one-two with Pedro before rounding Darren Randolph and slotting on.
But the supporter made it beyond the advertising boards and was stopped just before he got to the Chelsea players.
West Ham had issues with crowd control at the start of the season with the League Cup match against Chelsea particularly troublesome.
Slaven Bilic had spoken in the week of a need for the fans to behave.
"It happened last time but I know I have a record of meetings with the board, especially with [Karen] Brady," Bilic said.
"And the club has done terrific in that sense because it's much more secure now and we're not expecting anything to happen, like problems or whatever.
"Of course you can't be responsible for every individual that goes there with the purpose to do something, you can't stop it.
"But as a club we have done everything and I am expecting a really good footballing atmosphere on Monday night.
"Like it was from that game on, most of the time, if not all of the time."
