Tianjin Quanjian release shock statement on Chelsea striker Diego Costa

TIANJIN QUANJIAN have poured cold water on a summer move for Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

Diego Costa was heavily linked with a move to the Chinese Super League in January and looked set to leave Chelsea for the Far East this summer.


Spanish TV station Cadena Ser reported yesterday that the Spain international has agreed a sensational £600,000-a-week salary to join Tianjin Quanjian.

But Tianjin have now responded to the sepculation, claiming they have not held any talks with the 28-year-old striker.
A club statement read: “Dear media and football fans, with regards to the current widespread rumours of Chelsea player Diego Costa joining Tianjin Quanjian, the club would like to make clear that no discussions have taken place regarding the transfer.”

Costa has scored 20 goals for Chelsea this season as he closes in on his second Premier League title at Stamford Bridge.

Tianjin Quanjian have also been linked with the likes of Edinson Cavani, Radamel Falcao, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nikola Kalinic.
Shu Yuhui, the club's billionaire owner, yesterday confirmed they have already agreed terms with a number of top European stars.

“The only thing I can reveal right now is that we have agreed terms with two or three stars," Yuhui said.
